Jeremy (Myanmar) My name is Jeremy. My experience with Enxin started 3 years ago when I was 13 years old as I first arrived in Singapore. Enxin helped settling me in a preparatory school before I was enrolled into the government school through AEIS. I felt very at home and safe. I have a spacious room to stay in and felt very comfortable with my surroundings. Everyone was helpful and kind towards me. Enxin guardian teachers have been a guide for me to learn about life in Singapore. During my two and a half year stay at Enxin Homestay, I have learned to be independent. The life experiences that I have learned here has given me the good discipline to study well and to confidently complete my O level in Yusof Ishak Secondary School. Enxin Homestay often organizes outdoor activities for us. It has made my life in Singapore a enjoyable and meaningful one. I would say it has been a life changing experience for me! I recommend a home stay experience with Enxin as the teachers here will take you from where you are to where you are going in the future.
Gold Andres(Vietnam) For me, coming here to Singapore in search of a good studying environment is an important step for further education. It was quite a challenge for me. When I first arrived in Singapore, it was like the first time in a real city for a town boy. Everything in Singapore was a whole level of difference and improvement over Hanoi. Singapore offers me everything I ever wanted before I came here. It’s like a dream come true. Studying here was a whole lot better and school campuses are so big, classes are fully equipped with kind and helpful teachers. Friends are wonderful, friendly and helpful. A few of them have become my best friends. When I stayed in Enxin, it was a blast! You guys offered me great conveniences and help. It was a great pleasure staying here for 2 years. I can’t thank you enough for all that you have done.
Jungeun(Korea) Every time I think of you, I want to thank you. I didn’t have any friend in Singapore. But in this house I met many friends and everyone is kind. I will never forget this house. I don’t want to return to Korea. If I have the chance, I will come back to Singapore again. I feel that Singapore is my second hometown. Thank you for everything.
Santiago (Columbia) It was great pleasure sharing this time with you in my life. I have learnt a lot of things from you. Thank you for helping me all these months and for teaching me a completely new culture. See you again!
Zhang Hong Bin (China) Miss Wong is a kind and helpful teacher. She went the extra mile to provide after school remediation almost daily for me in English and other subjects. This support continued for two years. With her experience, patience and sacrifice, I was well-prepared for my P6 PSLE exam. I did well and was accepted into the reputable Saint Joseph Institution, express stream. From the bottom of my heart, I would like to say again, THANK YOU very much Miss Wong!
Nara(Korea) In Singapore, I’m always happy because you’re always with smile. And homestay is clean, good and convenient. I made friends with foreign people and I always think about you and Singapore. I hope you achieve everything and bless you. I want to go back again. Thank you for your friendship and concern.
Jinky Dominguez(Philippines) Thank you so much for being kind. I really enjoyed my stay here because I met a lot of new friends from different countries. And I learnt a lot of things as well. We know that God is good all the time. He will give us everything we need at the right time and place. We just have to obey Him, right? I will miss you all. Also thanks for the “Broken Bread” book. I really appreciate that. I will read it and share it with my family. May God continue to bless you and your loved ones and family.
Doostet Daram(Thailand) We are thankful for the happy moments we spent with each other tonight. Noel Chang(Taiwan) I’m very glad that I can stay here and all of you treated me very well. In this house, everyone is like a family member. Though I only stay for a 3 months, Enxin is my first “home” in Singapore. I like every member in this house. Thank you for your care during this period of time.
Jiang Nan(China) Thank you for taking care of me. I had a happy time in this house. This is my first “home” in Singapore. Hope to see all of you again.
Ploypailin Rupavijetra(Russia) I had stayed here for only 2 weeks and I had a great time. Thank you so much for your warm welcome, hospitality and kindness. Everyone was so willing to help and gave so much attention. It was nice to come home every evening and share the experiences we had each day. I will surely miss this place and everyone. I hope to come back to Singapore and stay here.
Ya Ting (Christine) – Handan, China, 18 years old, PSB Academy, University year 1 Business Studies student Ya Ting came to Singapore when she was 17 years old when she managed to persuade her parents to let her study abroad and do away with taking her high school exam. Her family then immediately applied for a travel visa and headed towards Singapore. Due to the lack of understanding of Singapore’s education system and the knowledge of the different schools available for Ya Ting, they almost signed up with a language school that does not provide a pathway towards a Degree education but yet collect a tuition fee that is considerably expensive. When they approached Enxin for help, we were glad that we could help her fulfill her wishes.
Mac – Yangon, Myanmar, 14 years old, Singapore Government School Secondary 2 Express Mac came to Singapore when he was 13 years old. He had only 10 days to prepare for a Government school entry examination, AEIS. It was a formidable challenge to both himself and our Enxin teacher. We took it positively and gave him a 10-day, day and night crash course to help him brush up his English and Mathematics standard. Our effort was paid off when we received his results and he was successfully accepted into Secondary 2 Express. Mac was elated and ecstatically exclaimed, “From now onwards, I am going to Singapore to build my bright future!” In the school, Mac is well loved and highly respected by both his teachers and peers. He has a pleasant personality and does well academically. He is voted as the class chairman and is on the student leader’s training track.
Nian Zhe (Anna) – Beijing, China, 16 years old, Singapore Government School Secondary 3 Express Nian Zhe was 15 years old when she came to Singapore. Her mother is the only one in the family and also the first in her circle of friends to send her daughter to study abroad. As such, she suffered a lot of internal pressure and constant questioning whether she had made the right decision. In addition, in 2008, there was a change in the educational policy instituting a centralized examination for all international students. This greatly increased her anxiety and uncertainty of what the outcome would be. Nonetheless, Nian Zhe, together with her teachers in the preparatory school and Enxin Homestay put in a lot of effort for 4 months and finally, she pulled through the examination with excellent results! Nian Zhe’s mum rejoiced and she hopes that Nian Zhe can continue to do well academically and get into a local University to continue building her great future in Singapore.

Xiao Fei (Feiona) – Shen Zhen, China, 11years old, Singapore Government School Primary 3 Xiao Fei came to Singapore when she was 10 years old. She missed the time period to take the AEIS exam and opted for the Government Qualifying Test (QT). This is an IQ test. It is only when she passed the QT that she could proceed to school admission. Xiao Fei then had to take a school admission test which includes English and Mathematics. As she wanted to start the school term as soon as possible, she only had 2 months to prepare for the school admission test on top of clearing the QT. The challenge was huge as her English standard is equivalent to that of Primary 1. However, with great determination, constant care and encouragement and professional drilling from a trained teacher, she cleared all the hurdles and was admitted to a good Government Primary school.
Ugo – Jarkarta, Indonesia, 13 years old, Singapore Government School Secondary 1 Express Ugo was 12 when he was in Singapore. He is an intelligent boy and has a good English foundation compared to other Indonesian boys at his age. However, he is temperamental and often wants things his ways. As time passed by, he had a number of major conflicts with his friends and as a result lost a good friend. The redeeming thing about Ugo is that he still has a teachable heart when one is patient and willing to spend time counseling him. Under such a caring environment at Enxin, Ugo gradually changed his attitude and way of handling his relationships with friends. Now, he is well loved and received by his new classmates and teachers. |
